What is Flat Fee MLS?

Positive Negative

"Flat fee MLS" listing is a low cost alternative form of advertising your property for sale. Instead of paying a real estate agent a listing commission, with flat fee MLS, as the name suggests, you pay a one-time, flat fee (generally between $300 and $500) to have your property's information placed into the Realtor Multiple Listing Service (MLS). WitThe MLS is responsible for 75%-85% of home sales nationwide. A listing in the MLS is far more effective than any other type of advertising you can do - including classified or for sale by owner website advertising. As a 'for sale by owner' with flat fee MLS you retain the right to sell your home without paying a commission. If a member broker of the MLS sells the property for you, you pay just the buyer agent commission you agree to at the time of listing.
